Chad Chalileh

Professor Chalileh began his Brazilian Jiu Jitsu journey in 2007. He received his purple belt in 2009 after winning the IBJJF No-Gi Pan Ams at blue belt. He is Waldwick High Schools only NJ state champ with an undefeated senior year at 31-0. Chad earned his black belt from Tim Shirley, the founder of Ótimo BJJ.


He began his professional wrestling coaching career at the age of 19 at Don Bosco Prep and doing group and personal wrestling lessons. More recently he served at the head wrestling coach at Waldwick/Midland Park High School. He has a 4th Degree (4th Dan) black belt in Aikido under the USAF.  

A seasoned yoga teacher (500 E-RYT) since 2002, Chad brings a mindful approach to learning and teaching martial arts.

His intention is to create an environment where you will be supported to thrive at your maximum potential on and off the mats.

Coach Gary was introduced to Jiu-Jitsu in 2001 when he trained for a short period at a self-defense focused Jiu-Jitsu academy while in college. After a long layoff and a few false starts, he began training again consistently under Professor Tim Shirley in 2017, receiving his purple belt from Professor Shirley in June 2019. As a former 2x wrestling district champion in high school, Coach Gary's competitive mindset and experience has helped him find success competing in Jiu-Jitsu under Professor Shirley. He has medaled at every tournament in which he has competed to date, most recently placing first in the adult absolute Gi division at purple belt at the Grappling Industries tournament.

Coach Gary teaches a weekly Gi class with a focus on fundamental concepts and movements.

His conceptual approach to teaching provides students with a broad understanding of Jiu-Jitsu as a whole and the ability to be creative on the mat.

 Tim Shirley



Professor Tim Shirley is an accomplished black belt competitor with over 12 years of experience.  He earned his black belt under Daniel Beleza and is a multiple time IBJJF International champion.

As a former collegiate wrestler & high school wrestling coach, he has years of experience teaching all levels.  His years of training give him an in-depth understanding of techniques to which he adds an aggressive style with a proven winning record.

Raised in Boulder, CO, Tim has trained at gyms across the country under numerous highly regarded instructors and has melded their styles into his own highly effective and comprehensive teaching program aimed at maximizing all backgrounds and skill levels.

Opening an affiliate gym in Bergen County, Tim was determined to create an atmosphere of acceptance and leadership through a program of hard work and discipline which will create champions at the local, national, and international competitions.
